Location: Mandala Studio
Time: 01:30 hr
Synopsis:
In The Zoo Story, a multiple award-winning play, playwright Edward Albee posits the reality of modern society where people are losing connection with each other as walls and fences are being put up and divides are further extended. JERRY, a social outcast, a nothing has nobody to speak to. PRITHVI is all set by societal standards, is educated, and has a job, family, and residence at a respectable location, and yet he seeks solitude in a public park bench which he eventually calls his. JERRY fondly remembers his perhaps only real moment of connection with a SCHOOL BOY and vividly describes his attempts at forming a connection with his LANDLADY’s neglected almost feral pet dog KALE. The plot is driven by the question - what message has JERRY brought from the zoo to share with a total stranger?
Description:
The Zoo Story features two killer performances from Rajkumar Pudasaini (Jerry) and Bijaya Tamrakar (Prithvi), celebrated stage actors last seen together in the One World Theatre production of Macbeth Massacre to outstanding reviews. Joining the stellar cast are two amazing physical actors with magnetic and expressive movements – Naur Chhetri playing the School Boy with whom young Jerry had most probably the only real human-to-human love encounter and an almost feral pet dog Kale, and Aditi Shrestha playing an intimacy-hungry, authoritative and drunken Landlady. The play was adapted by the collaborative efforts of OWT members and friends.

The play is directed by OWT’s guest director, Sajag Rana. Sajag Rana teaches drama at Tribhuvan University. He has directed numerous college plays and has performed in One World Theatre productions.
